Growing roots in Trinidad

Yes, we are still here.
Oriole
at Crews Inn, Chagaramus.
Monday gave us the rather depressing news,
having
waited over Christmas and New Year for the rapid delivery of the replacement
winch motor, that it would be at least a fortnight before we could even
expect dispatch from Denmark. We are not going to wait any longer and are
arranging for delivery somewhere further north. In addition the installation
of the new staysail furler in Grenada had been concerning us and the local
Swedish rigger agreed that modifications were needed. That is scheduled for
Monday or Tuesdsay so the earliest we can get away is Wednesday. Meanwhile
the weather has been unseasonably wet and it has been blowing a hooly at sea
although we are very sheltered here. The SSB radio nets give us daily
reports of foul weather further north. This is not the Caribbean we have
been used to! We feel very sorry for Anne and David James who are just out
here for three weeks.
However the social round has continued and we have been getting on with jobs
and we have installed a replacement bilge pump and have been making full use
of the marina swimming pool.

The car we have been lent has been a great
asset and has allowed us to accomplish all sorts of errands with minimal
effort. But we feel we are overstaying our welcome and sincerely hope that next week's
