After nearly a week of persistently strong winds, solid 20-25 knots up to 35 knots in squalls, suddenly on Thursday afternoon somebody turned the switch the wind backed off to 6-10 knots and the peace was palpable.  BBQ supper in the cockpit instead of cowering down below in the cold (well perhaps it was 25C) .

Andrew, who now has Caroline as crew and stewardess during passages and harbour stops arrived on Monday evening after a very wet and bumpy trip up from Grenada.  We caught up with them over dinner and heard that Gitana attempting a fast passage at twice our speed had considerably more water getting below than did little Oriole on her trip up.  They had to slow down!  Apart from an odd wave which managed to drip down through our open main hatch we had not a drop getting in anywhere.  Oriole's skipper has at last managed to silence the moans from the mate of "My pillow's wet again" or "There's damp at the foot of our bunk" by assiduous attention to minor leaks which at least for the time being have been cured.

Our friends Brian and Maggie on Skitter Scamp who are keen walkers have been chasing us around the island and we are feeling remarkably virtuous but we have returned so exhausted that the various jobs that are always pending have remained pending while restorative afternoon zzzzzs have taken their toll of productivity.  Today in the lighter airs they are off sailing so we can get on with some work!

Where's my towel?

Falmouth and English Harbours have been remarkably empty of small yachts like us and we expect that in influx will arrive over the weekend with the milder weather.

Falmouth Harbour Marina superyachts early this morning.

It has been great fun meeting up with old friends and we always enjoy our time in Antigua.
