Hi Everybody,

We made it to Mindelo in the Cape Verdes yesterday, after six days and 1 hour of sailing! During this time, our new crew member John has truly been sent to us from a higher plane, the girls are salty as they come and when we skirted past a little tropical storm last Thursday and had 5 metres waves for 18 hours, no one batted an eyelid, especially Merliah Summers who somehow just keeps on smiling (see below). We’ve seen some nice sunsets too!

The Cape Verdes rose out of middle of the Atlantic Ocean like ancient giants and the city of Mindelo is interesting and vibrant. We spent the day swimming at the beach today with our friends Christian and Betty who travelled at the same time on their sailing boat. We’ve also done some supermarket stocking up, filled up with fuel, checked in and checked out and are leaving tomorrow! The winds are set to be nice and steady across the Atlantic so we have decided to take our open window of good sailing conditions. Our journey across the Atlantic should be roughly 2000 nautical miles. We’re not quite sure where we’re going to land in the Caribbean yet and so we’ll update you on the way. We will see where the wind takes us!

Sending some photos of the trip from Las Palmas to Mindelo. The meal about to be cooked in the photo is tuna, caught just after we left Las Palmas. Looks beefy, no?

Hope you’re all well!

love from Quest and her crew

PS The whale followed us most of the way but was too shy for pics :) We were relieved that a. we didn’t catch it on the fishing line and b. he/she didn’t fall in love with Quest TOO much. Phew….
