Hi everybody,

We went to the marina yesterday in Madeira and today we caught a bus into the next town, Machico. Isn't that a cool name? It turns out that Machico is where the Portuguese first landed after discovering Porto Santo in 1419 and has the island's oldest church. Apparently it took them a year to get to Madeira after first discovering Porto Santo which is kind of strange cause the whole place is like a massive mountain. Anyway, it's said that the sugar trade properly began here after it was first grown and sold here in town! Then our new friend Chris discovered the New World and the rest is history!

We came here to go to the vet's, to get Finster's passport stamped and get her some sea-sickness tablets. Our vet in Wales said that because she has 4 legs she's a bit more sensitive to the boat moving around and maybe it will help her on our long passages 🌊🐶🐬💕. The vet was really cheerful but Dad said he would be after we turned up! Also Dad said the richest person in Madeira must be the guy with the tunnel-making machine here. There's loads of tunnels carved into the mountains and each of them tell you how long they are before you go in. We are renting a car on Monday so we will tell you the longest tunnel that we find. So far the longest one was 887 metres today. Delphine says driving through them is like night time!

We found a beach here too with a swimming platform. Me, Dad and Delphine swam to it and Delphine had her Hello Kitty ring on. Can you see me diving off the end? It was cool😊

Tomorrow we're going to the capital of Madeira, Funchal on the bus. It's a long bus ride so we're leaving early. Boat school on the bus, Mum says. Isn't it Saturday though? Boy, I miss Plascrug!!!

Write soon,
L&D
