Hi everybody,

It's Lu here. I can't believe what I'm about to tell you so I'm glad I have the photos to prove it!

I'll start the story properly, last Sunday we happened to arrive at the beach in our smart new dinghy just as a boy was finishing his swim from the other duckling island, Ile d'Hoedic. He had swum to Houat in two wet suits. It had taken him just over 3 hours. His older brother had done it too and apparently he had swum in a little earlier. His dad (who was really smiling) told us it had taken his brother 2 hours and 20 minutes. We were pleased for them and their family who were taking lots of pictures. They were only a little upset when Fin was discovered rifling through their food in their picnic basket and we left pretty soon after that.

So, bear with me while I tell you that we met the coach too. He started the island to island swimming club years ago and yesterday morning we bumped into him in the village. He said that I could join too if I came back to the island and I thought this was cool so yesterday afternoon I thought I'd try to swim from the beach back to the boat. I was told it was about half a mile and I had a lady helper and Delphine checked on me from the dinghy. I can't believe I made it! It was great and I slept like a log.

Can you see us in the first photo? Our heads are like two black dots. We passed a few boats too and they all popped their heads out to wave.

We also have met our pen pals from Paris again and had a few super days on the beach. Unfortunately I can't download the pics from the other camera so I'll have to put those on the blog after we come back. I have one though and I'll put it in the next set of photos. They even came over for some supper last night and it was nice. We had macaroni and crispy bacon.

Write soon,

Lucia :)
