We arrived yesterday after a full night of motoring – again winds on the nose. After picking up a mooring we fell asleep for a couple of hours and then headed ashore. We walked down to Duval street which I guess if the main ‘happening’ area. Lots of shops and bars. We were not very interested in taking pictures and only took this one. This guy was hanging out in the parking lot of a bed and breakfast.

The Key West mooring field is nothing to brag about. It’s a long motor to get to and there are several boats well past their prime. The mooring costs $16 a day and includes use of the dingy dock, showers and holding tank pump outs. If we weren’t on a mooring we’d be paying at least $10 a day just to tie up our dingy so it works out.

Today was our first bad weather day. Thunderstorms rolled through keeping us on the boat. Not a big deal as we need to make repairs (what else is new) and clean house. We now have a completely defrosted freezer – yippee.

Something we have come to understand and appreciate is siesta. The afternoon nap sure is nice.
