Mylor

After much deliberation on what the best anchorage would be with the shifting wind overnight, we’ve settled for anchoring off Mylor.

What a beautiful day; after our morning of admin, we came around the corner from Falmouth, ghosting with jib-only for most of it. 

We’re rather on our own out in the river with fishing boats, powerboats and sailing boats going either side of us, but hopefully it will remain calm when the west wind starts in the early hours. All other anchorages seemed rather exposed.

Just returned from a classic August walk along the coastal path from St Just to St Mawes; fields of hay bales, the air filled with the smell of cut hay and buzzing insects, a very welcome warm sea breeze and blackberries on either side of the path.  We feel we’ve been air dropped into mid summer having been wearing thermals until a week ago and are thoroughly appreciating the warmth.

It is Carnival Week in St Mawes and runners doing the 4km Fun Run passed us on a steep hill, despite being within the first few 100m it was clearly hot going from the pink faces. Good on them.

So the dinghy is back on deck and we’re all set for an early start tomorrow.
