Pwllheli II

It’s still blowing here and as it was hammering down on the deck until about lunchtime, this gave us ample time for planning the next leg to get around Bardsey Island:

The Almanac gives counter-intuitive advice which is backed up by Roger Oliver’s Round Britain book, ie both indicate there is a back eddy between Bardsey Island and the Mainland, they both say there is a north flow in the Bardsey channel when the Tidal Atlas says there is a strong southbound flow in the Irish Sea at that time.

Only one way to find out ~ but it’s a little alarming as it will be a spring tide on Saturday.

A beautiful sunny afternoon meant we could go and find the Lon Cob Bach Nature Reserve here in town with Shelducks, Herons, Egrets and Oystercatchers.

Popped down to the beach to see where we had anchored the other night, found a calmer sight and Snowdonia in the distance.

Bol spotted a shop selling Charnwood Stoves so we stopped in to meet the owner who was amused to meet the designer of the stoves he was selling.

We’ll head out tomorrow to anchor in Aberdaron Bay, near Bardsey Island, the plan is to head to Holyhead on Saturday now the wind is forecast to be from the south.

Finally finished Marion and Richard’s chocolates, yes we split the third chocolate in half!

Birthday supper underway.
