Glenarm

We woke to the cheeping of baby Black Guillemot chicks being fed as the ancient harbour wall is barely 40ft from our bow, a beautiful start to the day. It transpires the holes in the wall were purposefully drilled to enable the Black Guillemots to build their nests; they are a protected species around here.

We spent quite a lot of today watching them, mesmerised by their busy lives. It is fascinating to see them swimming underwater, flapping their wings as busily as they do through the air, they seem pretty tame and unperturbed by human activity all around.

So after four very early starts recently we were happy to have a relaxed day here, consciences helped by not much wind outside the harbour.

We have made a few passage plans for the next few days and just hope the weather plays its part by sticking to the forecast.

Alarms set for the more civilised hour of 0700…
