La Coruna day 4

The wind has gone north which is good, another 24 hours and we hope the swell will have calmed down too. The plan is to head off on Monday and go 50 miles to Ria de Camarinas.

Don't like to say this as I understand autumn has arrived in the UK but today was deliciously hot. It was the first time I'd heard the children complain about the heat so we went for a cooling-off swim at the entrance to the harbour. Too murky for Isabelle and me to enjoy much, Harry didn't mind and was busy duck-diving down and collecting hermit crabs and other things off the sea bed.

Next to our swim site by the entrance is a 16th century fortress (built to keep out the likes of Francis Drake apparently!) is the Castle of San Antón. I enquired about the entry and the chap said if the children were to finish their apples and put their shoes back on, they can come in for free... so we did! Another well preserved landmark with its own lighthouse and museum and we had a pleasant roam around in the sunshine. Amongst the Roman coins and pots was a curious wicker boat with cow hide on the outside, sadly the illustrations were in Spanish and French so we missed the finer detail.

Bol took the children off mackerel fishing this evening but came back empty handed, the kind chap we met last night had caught 30 today so they are certainly about.

So a quieter day after two busy ones. Sunday morning, if diaries are written without too much fuss (!) we will go to the Aquarium. That's also after Bol has gone up the mast to see why the new nav lights have stopped working.
