Tobermory II

100% rain was forecast for today and as 100% rain was falling on the deck this morning, we decided with zero visibility beyond the entrance to Tobermory harbour, we’d stay put!

So we had a lovely relaxed morning catching up with Isabelle, and when the rattling on the coach roof was reduced to a lighter rattle, we ventured out fully dressed for the next downpour and headed into town.

There are a lot of galleries and boutique shops here so it was easy to pass the afternoon. The excellent Mull Museum that covers the last 300+ years of life on Mull, including the rather shocking number of wrecks all around the Island was really interesting. There were also plenty of natural history artefacts dating back to the stone age, and plenty of facts and histories of castles, baking, why the houses are painted multi-colours, WW 1&2 and fishing. All very interesting and nicely presented.

The rain eased so we took the gamble of walking to the Rubha Nan Gall Lighthouse at the entrance to Tobermory Harbour, overlooking the Sound of Mull. It was along a lovely track through the woods with limited birdsong on this occasion, although a soulfull raven crowed above our heads on our return.

Off to the Mishnish Pub for an evening drink as we are rather shocked to see the weather pattern coming over the horizon so our plans are slowly going up in smoke……….
