Inverness Marina day 2
We awoke today to hear the wind howling through the rigging of the boats in the marina and felt the tugging on our lines in the gusts. We were debating whether to sit tight today when the marina manager told us the entrance to the canal was closed due to the high winds and the difficulty of getting into the first lock safely.
So we decided to combine a trip on foot to the lock entrance to check out what we should expect tomorrow and a food shop before we head into the locks.
Once we returned to the boat we prepared for the canal by digging out longer mooring lines, the fender boards, blowing up the inflatable fenders ready for the trip and topping up with fuel.
Then we relaxed. The day worked out well as we had arranged to meet two lots of family friends who made a huge effort to visit us (Rob Short, plus Andrew and Colette Bett).
So it turned into a very sociable and enjoyable day, and hopefully we'll get underway tomorrow.
