Fai Tira leaves Turkey and heads for Rhodes in Greece

You may have guessed by now I am playing catch up with the blog site.

Well here we go, Fai Tira headed out of Marmaris Marina on the 15th of June with just Judy and myself on board.  We had had an emotional morning saying our goodbyes to the crews that were left. Tears still in our eyes as we headed passed the guys on Jackamy as they blew their fog horn and waved to wish us a good passage, as did a couple of other boats.

Fai Tira leaves Marmaris and heads for a training session, teaching Judy how to deploy the anchor.  After a successful trial we motored to Rhodes and called up the shipping agent.  He had reserved a berth which turned out to be only 3 foot wide!  We dropped the anchor and reversed in (we have a steel boat!).   Rob and Jo, who had arrived the day before were there to meet us.

Pete happy to be sailing again.  We met up with Rob and Jo for dinner in the Old Town.

The next day saw us exploring the Old Town in Rhodes.  We stopped for lunch and Peter had to drink out of a glass boot, whilst Judy sipped a nice glass of white wine.

Rhodes Old Town, a world heritage site is fabulous with narrow streets and alleyways, surrounded by a fortified wall built by the Knights of St. John.

That evening we discovered a little restaurant in an alleyway, which served traditional Greek cuisine with a friendly family atmosphere.  We had a great night as can be seen.  This was to be our last night with Rob and Jo before starting our journey west.
