Sorry about the lack of blog entries but we have had a news blackout here in Salalah

The 2009/11 Blue Water Rally has effectively come to an end prematurely in Oman, 17 months after leaving Gibraltar to sail round the world.  Although Fai Tira will be completing the circumnavigation the Red Sea part will see the boat piggy backing on the back of a cargo ship and unloaded in Marmaris.  Pete will continue on the adventure through the Mediterranean and back to Dartmouth arriving at the beginning of August.   The shooting and death of our friends on board Quest and other recent acts of piracy and hostage taking in the Arabian Sea have made proceeding in any direction from Salalah too high risk for us and the vast majority of participants of the rally.   In the meantime, we are keeping ourselves occupied with boat work and exploring some of what the Dhofar province of Oman has to offer.
