Pete’s
Adventures in
Salalah Part 6 What’s
been happening in the last week of April. Since our return from our road
trip to Dubai I have been busy sorting things out on Fai Tira. I have
moved all my gear out of the forepeak to the large aft cabin. I then
moved all of the sails and covers into the forepeak. The saloon is now nice and
tidy and ready to be cleaned. A job for next week. We have had all
the usual activities which included Bowls Night on Tuesday, Quiz Night on
Thursday plus the extra activity on Friday celebrating the Royal Wedding. I have some good news and some
bad news. The good news is the ship bringing the cradles to Salalah has
arrived this morning (Saturday). The bad news is I have an infection on
my arm which is causing me some concern. The infection on my arm. I am taking antibiotics
for the problem which, have been prescribed by Susan from Enchantress.
She is a pharmacist and has put me on antibiotic pills. I went to the A and
E and he said he hadn’t seen this before but the treatment prescribed was
excellent. Ian from Lucy Alice has the same infection on his leg. Steve
from Island Kea did some investigation and it seems it could be an infection
caused by a sand fly bite called Leishmaniasis. Bowling Night. Susan (my nurse) very pleased
with her last bowl. STRIKE The BWR are now regarding
themselves as expats. We all thoroughly enjoy bowling
night at the Oasis club Here are two of the
experts. Steve from Aspen and Guy from Laroobaa. Lovely action
Steve!!! The Royal Wedding It had been arranged with the
Oasis Club to show the wedding on the big screen. It was decided that we
get dressed up of the occasion. We had a great time as you can
see below. Brian and Gavin in their Dish
Dashes and me dressed in Union Jack flags. Brian and Gavin had to get
changed as they weren’t allowed to be served alcohol dressed as they
were. Mark and Chrissie got into the
spirit of the occasion. I even saw them wiping their eyes now and again. It was just like being
there. Here are the back row gang who did quite a lot of heckling. The big screen in the
club. We have spent quite a lot of time in front of this over the last 2
months. Cricket, Rugby, and now the wedding. Here I am with one of the
staff who looks after me. The BWR expats at the Oasis.
God save the Queen and the BWR!!!!! The ship is due on the 8th
of May. More to come later. Pete. |
