Via satellite phone tonight so no photo’s.

After a day of no wind yesterday we went to bed last night with the wind howling though the rigging.  We woke up to a force 7 blowing from the NE and perfect blue sky. The Camarinas fishing fleet had all left.

We conversed with a number of other skippers, Dutch, French, English and Finish (no not the end) who all told us they were heading south for the winter. After breakfast I decided to repaint one of our balls.  Yes the green one on the starboard side of the compass.  I then got into painting mode and went around the boat slapping paint on any bit of rust I could find.  John spent the morning updating his journal. We then decided to ride to the lighthouse.  The lighthouse is very prominent on the headland and about 4 miles from the town. We headed out along the coast and were treated with a fantastic track which winded its way past lovely beaches and through forests of pine trees which smelt perfect.  We rode up to the lighthouse and were nearly blown off our bikes when we got near to the top of the cliff.  We had a quick look around and then headed back to town to a Tapas bar.  I had sardines and calamari and beer in an English pint mug.   John couldn’t eat anything so he just had beer. We were treated to a demonstration of beaded lace making which was fascinating.  It was then back to Fai Tira and dinner cooked by chef John.

We hope to move on tomorrow if the wind drops.  We are like a couple of migrating birds with an instinct to keep heading south.

Bye for now.

Pete and John.
