After sitting for several days in Veyamandhoo in squally, wet and windy weather we decided to push on south today. initially we left with the intention of heading straight for Gan with an overnight passage, but the seas were quite rough and rolly and we spotted an anchoarge on the southern side of Laamu atoll that would knock 25nm off the journey and mean we would have more chance of reaching Gan in good light.
BUT at least we had the sails up and managed to sail most of the way today.

we anchored to the east of Maamendhoo island - a narrow, deep channel which was being used by several boats as an anchorage from the stiff westerly winds.

the next morning we checked the weather forecast only to see continuing stronger SW winds, which would mean head winds all the way. also looking at the weather for the crossing to Malaysia it seems that the westerlies have established,.... so we made the decision to turn back to Male, check out from there.
