We left the tiny anchorage at Taou and had a night sail past reefs and low
atolls arriving at Rangiroa atoll at first light, entered through the narrow
pass in the reef and dropped anchor again. This was another amazing spot and
we enjoyed just relaxing and meeting up with friends on other boats. Then a
two day passage to Tahiti main island. And what a spectacular setting, the
main island a towering mountain peak, visible from 40 miles away. It took us
all day to arrive and then seeing traffic and tall buildings was quite
strange after being away from it all for several months. We tied up against
the wall at the only marina in the whole of the South Pacific. It's all very
French. Baguettes and croissants delivered to the boat each morning. We had
a white knuckle tour of the island, complements of Hertz and Sussanne
driving
