Its April 18th and we are celebrating Andrews 60th birthday in the middle of
the Pacific Ocean on our way to the Tuamotu Islands. On a chart they are
even smaller dots than the Marquesas. We really could not be further from
home. Well there hasn't been much celebrating really. I baked a cake for
Andrew but no alcohol during a long passage means that we have had to go
without the bubbly and drink virgin cocktails in the evening. But those were
made with the wild limes we've collected over the past week and are pretty
good. We will be arriving on Fakarave atoll in a couple of days and I think
we will pull a cork then.
Since leaving the Marquesas 36 hours ago we have not seen a single vessel.
The only company we have had are some dolphins who came alongside to show
off their swimming skills. Always a joy to watch. This evening we sat and
watched the most beautiful sunset as we gently glided along, with the hiss
of the foam and gentle rocking of the boat.
