On the Rock

In a way Gibraltar is an odd place. It has echoes of 1960s England. We took
the cable car to the top of the rock, spectacular views over to Morocco and
the bay, and we watched as cloud rolled in, hiding the cargo ships. We hiked
down (always better than up) to the entrance of the siege tunnels, an
astonishing network of tunnels dug in the 18th and 19th century to prevent
the colony being lost to Spain and Napoleon. On to the small and peaceful
cemetery, used to bury the injured from the battle of Trafalgar
