Or Nasty Bottom. That was the conclusion on seeing the boat hauled out of
the water for it's annual bottom scrub. Actually it wasn't too bad,
considering it had had no 'beneath the water line' attention for over a
year. The Rubicon marina at the southern tip of Lanzarote have excellent
facilities and did a good job, lifting out the boat on its giant crane and
depositing it on the dockside ready for cleaning, and new antifouling paint.
Without it, barnacles would build up on the hull within weeks. All the
anodes changed----these are the zinc blocks fitted to various parts of the
boat, drive shaft and propeller to minimize corrosion of metal parts in the
water. Shirin and Arthur arrived for a week of sunshine and then Oliver, who
is planning to help us on the overnight passage to Las Palmas.
