Racing in Mallorca

The Royal Sailing Club of Palma was suitably fancy, and we docked right by
the club house and swimming pool, next to 25 other Oyster yachts preparing
for three days of racing. We assembled our 'passerelle', a suspended walkway
to allow us to walk ashore from the stern of the boat, and we had 'arrived'.
The elegant surroundings were in pretty stark contrast to some of the ports
we visited in Portugal and Atlantic Spain where whole towns were dying and
run down.
We were joined by Graeme, Linley and Ben to help sail the boat and teach us
the finer points of racing and for the first time we managed to fly the huge
colourful spinnaker sail on our run north to Andraitx. That evening we all
went up into the hills for wine tasting and paella.
