The vastness of the Pacific, half the world. The passage we are making seems
quite small when looking at a chart of the whole Pacific Ocean but just this
part is longer than crossing the Atlantic. It's sobering to think that we
are probably the most remote people on the planet, as far as it's possible
to be from land. Where else is 1500 miles to the nearest village.
The last couple of days have been rather frustrating, as the winds dropped
dramatically and the ocean swell tossed us from side to side. We have also
had grey skies and rain but today is a new day with bright blue skies and
lots of sunshine. We are shooting across the waves flying our big
colourful....and repaired...spinnaker like a kite, making good mileage. We
hope to get to the island of Fatu Hiva in the Marquesas sometime on Sunday.
We are looking forward to setting foot on land and seeing if our legs are
still land worthy.
