A little over an hour ago the 10mm bolt that holds
the Boom to Mast snapped !
We were very lucky to prevent the rest of the bolt
coming out as the resultant carnage can only be imagined ! The fitting is now
lashed in place as is the boom and mainsail.
We intend to complete the race under Jib alone and
do not require any assistance.
We are still making about 4.5 kts and will be able to effect a repair once
we arrive. We just need a lot of wind to keep us going - fortunatly we have just
that.
