Anchored in Anse Mitan, near Fort de France the capitol. On the way passed HMS Diamond Rock - the only piece of rock to be officially accepted as a Royal Navy Ship .

In 1804 some crazy Royal Naval officers decided it would be a fantastic idea to claim the rock for the King, Mount cannon at the top of the 175 meter high rock and lob cannon balls at passing French Warships, just to annoy them. They held out as a unit for 18 months, repelled numerous attempts by Napoleon's men to clear them off - eventually were blockaded and ran out of food.
