Well, an eventful week. Successfully picked up J + K in Palma and sailed to Sant Ponsa, Andrax and then onto Port Soller. As we experienced before, Soller was full of nutters anchoring on top of each other with little or no regard for other boats. We did enjoy the tram ride to the town, but the heat has remained full on.
We were to move to Pollensa but having reviewed the forecast decided to head back south. Little did we know that brewing in mainland Spain was the mother of all thunderstorms . It hit Ibiza with 100kph winds sending large yachts dragging anchor onto the beach - destroying around 15.
The storm met us at the Dragonara channel, on the western end of Majorca. Never seen lightning like it with constant strikes into the sea very nearby Juniper! We decided to snuggle up to a shear rock cliff on the island - the theory being that our mast would then not be the highest point!! Loitered to let the storm pass through then heading back to Santa Ponsa - many of the towns suffered flash floods and most boats hid for the next 2 days in whatever place they could find.
Finally today the whole system has gone and we are back to blue sky and 33degree heat…
Sent on the move....
