After a day of exploring St lucia (including a
trip into the sulphur volcano and a dip into the natural hot springs) we
set off this morning at 6am local time, destination Bequia! Having taken in our
share of the volcanic island of St Lucia the family came to the decision to push
on south toward the coral atols, passing by the island of St Vincent and
arriving into Admiralty bay, Bequia, at around 3pm. The passage down was
interesting as the sea conditions between most of the caribbean
islands very much resemble that of the open ocean. This is due to the volcanic
sea bed dropping away to over 2500 mtrs very soon after leaving the anchorages
and the trade winds blowing from Europe... Despite this we made good,
fast progress during the day, making above predicted speeds but again
arriving without a fish on the line (Im beginning to think dad has jinxed
fishing on the boat since our trip across biscay...!!).
Tomorrow looks to be a relaxed day onboard with the
possibilty of some revision books coming out? That can be the 'plan'
anyway.....!!
