Changing Gear To Holiday Mode

Juniper

Plenty of work to recover Juniper to fully operational - generally Juniper performed incredibly well considering the journey length and variable conditions. We still await spare parts for the rigging but otherwise most things have been repaired and cleaned. Tools have been borrowed to fix certain large items such as the water heater - thanks to the boat yard.

Looking back, the conditions were most strange - last time we crossed we sailed 100% of the time. This time we were forced to motor for nearly 4 days with no wind at all. Two at the start and two at the end.

We made 720 litres of water so showers and washing were not issues. We had frozen chicken and mince that provided the basis of a number of great meals.

During the middle of the crossing we sailed fast with seas of up to 3.5 meters and always felt the boat was totally comfortable. With only a crew of 4, it was never my plan to push the boat but to remain safe and in control.

After 3,200 miles we now change mode and prepare paddle boards, dinghy and dive gear looking forward to sampling the various Islands once again.
