A 25 mile sail North from Marin has brought us to a small village in a large inland lagoon called Trois Ilets. Winds eased today down to 10-14kts so a slightltly slow passage.

On the way we passed the massive island rock of Diamond Rock aka HMS Diamond Rock (see photo). It would seem that in 1804 ish some intrepid British Naval Officer came up with the idea of hoisting cannon onto the 450ft rock to bombard the French ships as they sailed into Fort de France. It became such a fortress that it was named HMS and they held out on the rock for 18 months before eventuallt being defeated. It would seem that Napolean, on hearing of this HMS,was so incensed that he sent a fleet from France across the Atlantic to clear the Brits out. Part of the reason for his ire was that the island is just a short distance from the home town of his Josephine...

We ae heading ashore to eat tonight in a resaurant located in someone's house, up a lane between two shacks, with a set creole meal for 23 Euro. Will be interesting.
