Ria de Barquero

Barquero was just around the corner from Vivero. Another beautiful beach anchorage but roly with swell from the west. We shared this with a large aluminium French yacht and a small French yacht that we have often seen when we anchor. Not many British boats seem to anchor these days, if we meet British yachts it is mainly in marinas; we feel they are seriously missing out as the marinas are not always in the most lovely parts of the Rias and some of the most beautiful Rias don't have marinas. We mainly go into marinas when we need bulk shopping and laundry done. We landed in the dinghy and walked up the hillside and inland to a picturesque village. We wandered through the lanes until encountering a German Shepherd dog on the loose and retreated to the sound of his low gurgling noises. It is still not warm enough to swim on this Atlantic coast, we are really looking forward to warmer water further south but there is much more to see up here yet.
