We returend to Guernsey with a fast sail in
strengthening winds. The forecast was terrible so we were glad to have the
chance to hide in the inner harbour. A bus ride to the wild and windy west coast
proved we had done the right thing by not going on straight to Alderney. In any
case the next day the weather was much improved so we had another easy sail to
Alderney through the deceptively calm Swinge.
Again the forecast for the next day was poor so we
stayed put again. I wnet for a long walk around the south west corner. I have
always been attracted by Alderney as a place to live. It is the only
Channel Island where there are no restrictions on buying property. In Jersey you
have to have lived there for 12 years or have over a £1 million before they will
let you buy somewhere, (at least according to the Liverpudlian barber who cut my
hair!)
