We flew to Luton Airport to be collected by our son Peter in the early hours, thanks Peter. We then drove to Norwich for a good night and late morning sleep in a land based bed - our bed, it was wonderful. We went to the hospital asap to find out about my injured foot and elbow. Crepe bandages were ordered off, that is not done any more; the ankle happily was not broken, which we had feared, but ligaments and tendons torn and pulled. I was told to expect a period of up to 2 months for recovery during which I must walk as normally as possible, exercise the foot to a given plan and ice it regularly when resting. I was so pleased by this I would have given it a bouquet of flowers if required. The elbow was punctured and badly bruised but nothing worse, the dressing with steri-strips had been well done and it should recover within 2-3 weeks. Alls well that ends well, just a bit painful at times!

We had a very rushed 2 weeks seeing our beloved son and daughter as much as possible, which was a joy; visiting our dear mothers for as long as we could, which was lovely; fitting in dentists, opticians, doctor, accountant and various urgent shopping, which were necessities; gee whizz  land lubbing life seems hectic! We had little time left for anything else before flying back and missed out on seeing many friends and relatives which is a big regret. We are not sure when we will be able to do this again, maybe from Panama earlyish next year. Before then Harriet, with partner Ben, and Peter have flights booked to fly out to be with us in Grenada in December so we are really looking forward to that.

On returning to Marina Rubicon we hired a car, we had one day visiting interesting places on Lanzarote as we hadn't had any time to do this before flying home and one day reprovisioning the boat ready for our Atlantic crossing. Lanzarote is a good place to do this as we found a very large supermarket on the highway into the capital which was relatively inexpensive, the bill was gulp worthy but will keep our lockers full for quite a long time. Fresh produce we will buy at a market at our next port of call as Lanzarote, being fairly desert like, has to import most of its fruit and veg which has usually been chilled and just doesn't keep. We are ready to leave here and are planning our next move.
