We had an easy Chanel Crossing mostly under sail, except for a couple of hours when the wind died. We had to dodge some ships in the lanes but 2 actually gave way to us, which proves they do keep  a look out! We arrived in Studand bay  just after the sun had set, so we had to creep in slowly through the murk. However the anchorage was perfect and we had a quiet night. However in the morning we were unable to get ashore as the oars had gone missing lost out of the dinghy when we had a rough night in Alderney we presumed. In addition the usually reliable outboard was refusing to start. Fortunately we were OK for supplies so we went on again with a perfet following wind to Lymington.
