We arrived in Alderney in the dark after a rough but fast sail across the Channel dodging ships. The wind reached close on 30 knots for some of the time but Gryphon coped well. Next morning we realised that there were very few visiting boats in the harbour but had had a bit of fun picking up a buoy in the dark the night before.
Alderney remains one of our favourite places. We were last here in 2000 for the eclipse when the harbour was crowded with boats. We landed and wandered around the small town, lots of places were closed for lunch which still seems to be the traditional 1.5 hours so we had a long lunch in a very nice pub before stocking up on supplies at the local shops.
