Our position at 12 00 on 16 June is 34:14.7N 069:56.9W . We have about  1576 nm to run to Horta in the Azores and we have completed about  126 nm in the last day.

June 15 - We have had favourable winds this afternoon and evening. We are sailing goose winged straight downwind and making between 5 – 6 kts and on course i.e. that is main set to starboard and the head sail poled out on the port side.

There was a flaw in our rescheduling list. I didn’t get any tea. Norm doesn’t drink it so its only me that will suffer. I thought we had enough but clearly not. We are recycling teabags to mitigate the problem.

June 16 – Overnight wind strength picked up and had to reef down then wind shift such that we ended up reaching with wind from the NW. This was surprizing as all previous indication were that winds were to be consistently from the SW. We will get an updated weather forecast today which show what is going on.

We are sailing along nicely at the moment, making bout 6kts, port reach and sunny skies.

The up haul on the head sail pole (the rope that holds the pole up) was looking very frayed where it comes out of the mast. It looked in danger of breaking. We had a suitable spare so was able to rerove it.
