We set off in sunshine on Monday morning after four days of waiting for the weather to sort itself out. Unfortunately the expected W wind was a S/SW and persisted as such for the rest of the day. We motored, motor sailed and sailed more the former about 30 mile down the coast of Portugal then decided to call it a day and wait for a more favourable wind direction. So we are anchored just off the small town of Sao de Jacinto in a quiet bay. The area is quite industrial so won't be staying longer than necessary. The pilot book describes the Ria as consisting of windswept channels and lagoons, inside a potentially dangerous entrance, only in certain conditions though.

Following morning 25 Sept, skies overcast wind still from the SW, forecast is still for the wind to ease and move to the W, so more cups of tea for myself and Norm and wait and see. We have a few neighbours anchored nearby mainly escapees from Oporto. There are a whole bunch of us strung out along the coast all struggling to go south without throwing diesel at the problem.
