Friday 22 March- After a couple of days chilling around Rodney Bay it was time to move on. An 08 30 start from the marina saw us heading north at 6/7 knots towards Martinique.  4 hour later we were off the Petit Anse d’Arlet, a beautiful bay just a few miles south of The large inlet containing Port de France.  We tied up to convenient buoys placed by the municipality, no boat boys, no fuss, no charge as far we knew. Ashore it was little France, french cars driving on the right, euros, french spoken exclusively. Martinique is a Department of France and so very Mediterranean.

Saturday 23 March – We headed off early toward Port de France heading for the small Marina at the Pointe du Bout. It was full we found and at the same time ended up standing by whilst some one leaving the marina had got themselves into a right mess and was aground. I think it was engine failure. They asked for a tow but in the windy conditions and with one boat aground I was reluctant to get too close to them. I tried to contact the marina but they weren’t concerned. In the end he managed to get free and drop and anchor. We headed off around the corner and anchored.

After exploring du Bout we headed off to Port de France on the ferry. That was a disappointment, No cafe culture here.
