Our Stay in Cabo Verde

The Travels of Running Tide

Disaster struck today. Norm lost his Kindle. One minute he had it the next it was gone. We knew it was on RT. We looked everywhere, in the fridge (I know what OAPs are like), the heads, down the back of all the seats. How could he have lost it? It did serve one purpose as in the search we spotted the long lost tins of tomatos and the kitchen rolls but no Kindle. Norm went to bed Kindle less. I offered to lend him a book but it wasn't the same. It didn't have that feel about it.

It was a jobs day in the sun. Norm drew the short straw and took on the task of servicing the heads. Not to be taken lightly. To relieve the boredom he tried a spot of fishing. Peder and I were still engrossed with the water supply after the water pump packed up yesterday. Looks as if the pressure switch is done for but we can get by. We think we have found the source of the leak to the rubber boat, and old cooking gas vent at low level in the lazarette and hopefully pluggged it..

It was Carnival in Mondelo tonight. We headed off first to the Club Nautico for a beer and meal of dorado and chips. The group were playing the local music, the sad melodies of the Imorna. All day long we could hear the drums as the children had their Carnval then at night the grown up had their turn. Think drum based mobile bands driving slowly through the street followed by hundreds of locals dancing their hearts out.

Also in harbour is Lynn Rival the boat belonging to the Chandlers who were captured and held for a long time by Somali prirates several years back. Back on the circuit again. By chance we saw their boat in Falmouth just before we left UK shores way back in September last year.

Norm did eventually find his Kindle stuffed in a cupboard. Now he is a happy boy.
