The Travels of Running Tide

We had a fun day today, Sally’s last full day on board. Botanical gardens, water falls, hot springs and mud pools. We got well and truly plastered.

We have now moved around to Souffriere but still have the Pitons in view. We hope to move closer to the beach tomorrow which will make going shore a bit easier.

Souffriere is an interesting town much more ‘local’ than any further north in St Lucia. To the south of the township it gets a little shanty down the grade until you get just a few tin shacks. There is no threat and everyone seems friendly, just have to watch out for the threat of petty theft. So far we have lost the sponge from the dinghy duck plus my mask and snorkel which I was silly enough to leave in the duck un attended.

Sally leaves today and we will be packing her off in a taxi to the airport at about 14 00hrs.  Pat should be arriving on Tuesday for her leg of our voyage to the Dominican Republic which we hope  get to  by mid March. The passage there will generally be off the wind, in other words not trying to batter our way up wind. Therefore it should be a more comfortable passage what ever the wind.

What an amazing time I have had and now going back to the cold and wet.  I have met some fantastic people and of course Captain and his first mate are truly superb, and I have even been allowed to use the ship’s shower today!  I will be sending further supplies of digestives, whiskey and two tea towels out with Pat.

HI,having covered myself in mud i have found no difference in my appearance,it was supposed to bring back youth.I will be returning to the village as old as when i left.I am still looking for a ear piercing lady though! Thomas please reply to my texts.
