The Travels of Running Tide

Yesterday was quite brisk, the forecast 4 turned into a 5/6, RT handled it very well and we had an exciting passage for a few hours. We were overtaken by yacht Pink Gin try googling it. Half a main sail up and comfortably doing 12.5 Kn.

This AIS which I now have working is brilliant especially when mixing it with the big ships. It can show the name speed and direction of all the surrounding vessels on the graphic screen of the chart plotter. It also tells us if we are on collision course, which is heplful.

Monica our windvane steering system is performing well and took us through the all the weather yesterday.

The evening saw the wind move to the north and gave Monica a few problems on a run. Wind dropping quickly as we expect the 1/2 northerlies.

All aboard OK and looking forward to sunshine. Just a bit damp at the moment.

We are about a day away from the Spanish coast and sensing our arrival hoisted the Spanish courtesy flag, probably premature.

Hope I have the hang of this now so should avoid problems with the last couple of blogs.
