Fancy a bit of Sailing

The Travels of Running Tide

As we near the US Norm and I get the feeling that we are at the beginning of the final but very long leg back to Blighty. Norm’s US Visa expires on 4 June so we have to be away by then. We will probably be able to get up to the US East Coast Chesapeake Bay area where I am hoping to see my grandson Leo for the first time. From there we will sail back to UK via Bermuda and the Azores. (US to Bermuda 600nm, Bermuda to Azores 1800nm and Azore to UK 1200nm). Weather conditions are not so predictable as on the east to west crossing so expect anything.

At the moment there are two of us. A further crew member could be accommodated if someone is sufficiently experienced or daft enough to want to do it. There is no guarantee that we land on Bermuda so anyone starting from the US could be looking at a passage of 2400nm maximum.  I would say that we prefer someone who is know to Norm or myself.

Beware RT is not a modern boat with all mod cons.

I don’t want to put my email address on the blog but if you know us you should be able to get in touch with either Norm or myself by email of text.

The passage to Fort Lauderdale from Cayo Largo could take about 5/6/7 days and we won’t be setting off until 3/4May so don’t expect a swift response.
