Our position at 12 00 on 15 June is 33:16.4N 063:06.1W . We have about 1700 nm to run to Horta in the Azores and we have completed about 86 nm in the last day.

 

We were up early on the 14 June to make sure we were at the head of the queue for C&I clearance and fuel. It paid off and we were under way by 09 30 and sails up 10 00. The winds have been light and the sea calm but we have made reasonable progress. Some boats have headed straight for the Azores other have taken a more northerly route. We took the northerly route but the winds have conspired to push us back off our intended route. Anyway its early days yet.

 

15 June - An overcast start to follow a slow night. We have moved between port and starboard tacks and are now on a port broad reach with a poled out head sail and doing a respectable 4.5kts. We are still trying to make northings and are being reasonably successful.
