The Travels of Running Tide

Not all has not gone well on the good ship RT. We
have had water swilling around the aft cabin that Peder and myself are using.
This has got quite depressing as everything was getting slowly well. Havng no
really warm weather to dry things compounded this. This is a hang over from a
problem we had crossing Biscay which I thought we had solved. More sleuthing
needed. Squid was surging and kicking up a racket in the night and one of
Monica's guide rollers was moowing like a love sick cow throughout the night.
Also the hand bilge pump was refusing to prime.
Time for some action. Norm was despatched to fix
the bilge pump using the spares that we had. Peder was going to fit a pipe to
take the water collecting in the rudder compartment to the stern gear bilge. I
tried to sort out Monica's rollers.
The pump now works, fingers crossed for Peder's mod
and I've given the rollers a good talking to. This only leaves to give the squid
a new longer rope, more news on that score tomorrow. Isn't it exciting. Small
things keep us happy aboard RT.
Last 24hrs we ran 134 miles.total distance covered
668 miles. This should see us in Cape Verde late tomorrow night.
