Arrived
at 18:30 port side too, on the visitor's pontoon at Lochtudy. Ula, with the
Richards family aboard arrived shortly after us at 18:45.Lochtudy is near to
Benodet, on the southern Brittany coast. It is a small fishing
port ,quieter than neighbouring Benodet, but the marina offers full
facilities ashore. Setting
off this morning from Camaret at 09:00 after re-fuelling, we motored in light
head winds to the top end of the Raz de Sein. We travel in convoy with" Ula"
negotiating the Chenal de Tourlinguet and south to the Pointe du Van passing the
famous La Plate light house and into the Raz. We rounded the Pointe du Raz
in the company of a French navy tug. Setting
course to the Pte De Penmarc, we motor sail on with five to seven knots of wind
on the nose, rounding the point we free the wind and set full main and Genoa on
a broad reach passing Guilinec and Lesconil on our way to Lochtudy. We had
our first sighting of dolphin today when a pod came over briefly to
play. Today was
a 58 mile run at an average speed of 6.2 knots, but only five of the ten hours
sailing. We
intend to stay for two nights and leave on Thursday for La Coruna if the
forecast stays good. Best
