This is it; the big day has come at last. At 13.00hrs 225 yachts will jostle for position and cross the start line. Weather reports indicate an area of low pressure mid Atlantic so our plan is to run well south of it towards the Cape Verde Islands until we pick up the trade winds, “keep going south until the butter melts and then turn right”.

It’s not been without incident getting here and we are all grateful to Paul for keeping going. Spirits on board are high and we are all looking forward to the easy bit – a gentle sail across the Atlantic Ocean!

Next stop St Lucia.
