Libertad Atlantic Cruise:::21 July 2008 Hi to all you blog watchers.Crew today : Paul Huntley ,Bob Jeffery,Martin Ward,Jake Howell and Nick who came onboard for the day but will be joining the crew in Bayona for the second leg. We are well on our way 50:40.594N 001:34.741W sailing in light airs, force 2/5 NW. I would like thank all of those that came down to Sovereign Harbour to see us off.I was overwhelmed by the good wishes from you all.I probably seemed a little distant , I was very busy with the final preparations,I do hope you understand.Once clear of the lock we were greeted by the "d" class RNLI boarding boat escorting us to the harbour mouth. We set sail on course to the west and Beachy Head when the Mersey class R.N.L.I. All weather lifeboat "Royal Thames"  which had been out on excersise  came alongside to wish us Bon Voyage. Thanks to all our friends at Eastbourne Lifeboat. In a force 5/6 westerly  we were driving to windward on pssage to the Looe channel and the Solent arriving at Gosport and a quiet berth for the night in Gosport Marina.Nick had to leave us and make his way back to Eastbourne by train,we decided a swift pint would help us sleep! .The Castle Tavern is next to the main gate and is irresistable after a day at sea. We spent most of the day with water deluging the decks which found all the leaks,Bob had his money out to dry this morning.Today we woke to blue skies and sunshine with a light north westerly, perfect, close hauled we make for Cowes passing Ryde and Osborne house on the way. We are now clear of the solent and on course for St Albans Head and Anvil Point, The Hampshire coast is astern and we follow the durasic (Dorset) coast to Weymouth for a couple of nights.Conditions are good with high pressure building over the Western approaches, lets hope we have these conditions for our crossing if Biscay to Bayona.Best wishes Paul
