Well after resting up over night in
Wellington we set off this morning at 0615, the reason for this ungodly start
time (considering our arrival time of 0415 yesterday!) was that in order to
catch the tidal rip across the Cook Strait to the south island, we needed to
leave about 3 hours before high water in Wellington which was 0920
today. Last night Alex cooked up a storm and we had a
relaxing evening with good company and music, which was a first for Alex and I
for a long
time. It wasn’t exactly tropical this
morning in Wlg, with even a frost!!! but we all got up on time put as much
clothing as we could gather and set
off. Although the night before the wind
was blowing as it does in Wlg, there was bugger all of nothing in the morning
which was a first because the Local forecast got it
right! We are just sailing/ Motoring past
the ‘The Brothers’ and will be turning into the Pelorus sound after passing
Walkrea Rock just off Cape Jackson, then onto D’Urville Peninsula and then on to
French passage possible later this
afternoon. Here we are going to find a safe haven for the
night and catch some fish, making our way down to Nelson
Tomorrow. Kind Regards from the crew
of ‘Duende’

Alex
