Todays 24hrs run was a lot better today @
147.7
nms. We left the Marina in Tauranga as soon as we
could, we actually left before the tide had gone slack, which makes
getting the yacht into open water difficult with such a strong tidal
flow. Todays plan is to get round East cape
and head to either Gisbourne or Napier dependent on the wind strength and
direction. at the moment we have a beam on sea and wind! which doesn’t make for
a smooth ride but we are making good time and expect to be at East cape in the
early hours of Wednesday morning and then we will head down towards Gisbourne
and Hawkes
Bay. Well plans got a little more
complicated as we approached white island when the wind got up a bit and we were
hitting double figures with winds in the high 20’s for a while, which weren’t
helped by the engine stopping briefly while we were being pushed down 4 meter
seas, we put some ropes out the back to slow things down and shortened the main
sail all was well!
A little bit of Drizzle but it looks
as though it will clear wind increasing, boy and did it
Lumpy sea's good breeze, max wind 29
knots Max speed 10.6 Knots.
We rounded East Cape @ 0527 morning as we
continued our leisurely trip down the east
coast. Happy
