Wow!
what a difference 24 hours makes last night things
got really rough, big seas 42knts of wind e took the main down at midnight and
still got a top speed of 10.4knts, it was total madness. I made a decision to
head off to the west and meet a new breeze that was appoaching. The main reason
for this was the fact that over there the wind were a little lighter, not a lot
but enough to bring a little santity back into the yacht! not me of course i've
always been inshane.
Well I always try to let the
crew know what is going on and i told them that according the the weather
pictures/reports that I had the winds would drop and would be coming in from the
west instead of their current direction at about nidnight. Well with about 50
mins to go there were the same old hugh seas and the winds were in excess of
40knts as per usual and then some thing happened that I can quite honestly say I
have never experience before...........the wund just shut down the seas went
quite and within the space of 3 mins we were sailing in flatter water and with
14knts of wind from the oppersite direction. It was not as if I had not been
expecting it, it was just the way it happened! kind of weird in a beam me up scottie sort of a way.
The rest of the day has seen us cleaning all the
mess up drying clothes and washing clothes and bodies all of which were well
overdue, we are currently less than 500 miles from our final destination and
look forward to a good meal washed down with a couple of glasses of
wine.
We are due to arrive at current pace
sometime Tuesdays afternoon, i'm not sure when yet but will let you
know.
Cheers
Mark
