Off to
Melbourne!! We got off to a slow start
with us motoring against a 20 knt breeze against us, departing at 1315 we were
hoping to be at Gabo Island by night fall which we managed. With the wind slowly
moving around to the South west we were able to pull a little of the Genoa out
and increased our speed to 6knts, with a clear sky, half moon you couldn’t have
wished for a better night, all but the stern light refused to come out to play
(bloody part timers!!) but I’ll sort that out if possible in the morning. The
engine is running as good as it was before we sucked up some carp out the bottom
of the tank and everything was for once perfect. which was far from the weather
of 24 hrs earlier and it appears now that things are beginning to change for the
better. The Forecast is good enough
to go and we hope to be in Royal Melbourne by the afternoon of Sunday the 19th
December. As of the time above we were well on our way to
Wilsons Prom, we are hoping to get there by 0300 /0400 Saturday Moring so we can
take advantage of the Change in the wind direction to a southerly. Also so it
doesn’t stop us before we round the Prom. Things are good a few niggley
electrical problems but nothing that can’t be fixed this afternoon, so by the
time you get the next up date we should be well on our way on the last leg to
the entrance to Port Phillip Bay.
As Ever I’ll update you
during the trip, for this leg of the delivery there are only James and myself on
board but s it is a relatively short leg I'm sure everything will be
fine. Cheers Mark and
James |
